Field Rules
To ensure we provide consistent refereeing for each field of play, selected field-specific rules are specified here. For All Fields (extracted from the GLSL Laws of the Game)
- Teams will sit on one side of the field, all supported and spectators will sit ont he opposite side. Coaches may use one half of the sideline for coaching.
- If one side of a field is not usable, teams and spectators share the same side of the field.
- No spectators (whether associated with a team, or just people who live in the neighbourhood) are permitted along the Goal Line. Fields where this is more likely to be a problem are those where the parking lot is at the end of the field (such as Elm Street) or where the parents walk along a goal line (Alexander Grove).
- Corner posts/flags are required on both mini-fields and full-fields.
- If there is a slow restart because the ball went into a ditch or backyard, add extra time to the half.
Specific Fields
Goulbourn Middle School (lower, full field)
Composite goalposts are used (soccer on the bottom, with football uprights on the top), with some "extra iron" connecting the two.
- If the ball hits the football uprights then the ball is deemed to have passed out of the field of play whether the ball bounces back onto the pitch or not. The referee is to stop play, and restart with a GK or CK as appropriate.
- If the ball clearly hits the goal frame, which defines the soccer goal, live ball, play the bounce.
- The ball clearly hits only the "extra iron", stop play and restart with either a GK or CK.
- If the ball hits both the goal frame and the "extra iron" at the same time, then generally the ball should be left in play (play the bounce).
- Players are not referees!!! Players should assume the ball has remained in play and should play the whistle.
Sacred Heart High School
- Composite goalposts, same as Goulbourn Middle School.
