Pyramid of Play

How GSC fits into the Soccer Pyramid of Play

See how your soccer club participates in the worldwide soccer hierarchy.

FIFA - Federation Internationale de Football Association
Governing body for of soccer worldwide.
CSA - Canadian Soccer Association
Governing body for soccer in Canada.
OSA - Ontario Soccer Association
Governing body for soccer in Ontario.
EODSA - Eastern Ontario District Soccer Association
Governing body for soccer in Eastern Ontario. There are 21 District Associations in Ontario.
GSC - Goulbourn Soccer Club
Our Club, of approximately 3,000 players, centred on the Township of Goulbourn, in the City of Ottawa.

There is also a hierarchy of play in Ontario, known in Ontario as the Pyramid of Play. Ontario clubs participate in their own house league, up to the highest levels their teams can achieve. Teams are promoted and relegated between leagues based on their performance in the previous season.

OYSL - Ontario Youth Soccer League
The provincial League. Teams which win their Regional League division are eligible to be promoted to the OYSL and participate in the province wide competition at their age category.
ERSL - East Region Soccer League - Regional Divisions
This league providing youth competitive soccer in the East Region of Ontario (there are 5 regions). Teams travel the full East Region. Teams are promoted and relegated to/from the OYSL, and from the East Region MJDL divisions.
ERSL - East Region Soccer League - MJDL Divisions
Multi-Jurisdictional District League. This is the same organization that operates the Regional Divisions. Teams are entered from two Districts (EODSA and SOSA), hence the "Multi" in the name of these divisions. Premier and Division 1 teams play in these divisions.
OCSL - Ottawa-Carleton Soccer League
Actually two leagues in one. This is the District League for the Adult competitive divisions, and is also a Multi-Jurisdictional Club League (a league serving more than one club) for the adult recreational and youth recreational divisions. Goulbourn SC enters most of our adult teams in the OCSL. We also enter a small number of Goulbourn Under-9 teams in this league, to enable these teams to play teams from the other youth clubs from across the city.
GLSL - Goulbourn Lanark Soccer League
Another Multi-Jurisdictional Club League, where the majority of our recreational youth teams play. Youth teams are entered from Munster Soccer, Richmond Soccer and Stittsville Soccer, and play against teams from other west-end clubs. There are also Under-21 mixed, women's over-30 and women's over-40 divisions offered.
Goulbourn Soccer Club
Our Club runs an in-house soccer school in each of Stittsville, Richmond and Munster. Players on these teams focus on developing soccer skills in a fun environment, with the pressures of games, scores and standings. Teams do not travel - they meet once per week in their own community
