FAQ

What Age Division is my son/daughter in?

Age group divisions are listed on the http://www.goulbournsoccer.ca/index.php?page=age-divisions-for-outdoor information page.

Can I request my child play on the same team with a friend?

A: Yes, You can write your request on the registration form OR e-mail your Age Group Coordinator (AGC) ( http://www.goulbournsoccer.ca/index.php?page=agcs ) with your request. ALL SPECIAL REQUESTS MUST BE MADE BY MAY 1. Please keep your request to just one other player. Please note that no promises are made regarding these requests unless you have already volunteered to coach. When creating teams, AGCs must consider a number of factors to create balanced teams. As a result AGCs may not be able to accomodate all requests.

Where can I find the league schedules?

Schedules are on the Goulbourn Lanark Soccer League (GLSL) web site.

What are registration fees? When can I register?

All registration questions are addressed on the Registration page.

Can I request which of Stittsville/Richmond/Munster I play for?

Yes, but the club reserves the right to redistribute players based on registration count.

We are not residents of Stittsville/Richmond/Munster. Can we still play in the Goulbourn Soccer Club?

Yes, subject to space availability. Please contact the club office for more information.

Can my child play up?

A player of exceptional ability might wish to be assigned to a team in an older division in order to provide appropriate challenge and development. Playing-up is always based on ability and is not an option for "playing with friends", "playing with siblings", "car-pooling with a neighbour" etc. The player must be registered in his/her natural age group to start the season. A formal request must be submitted to the club office to play up.

Can my child play down?

Under OSA rules, a player who demonstrates significantly reduced ability may be assigned a team in a younger division. The club must obtain permission from the District for each player and usually takes two weeks for a final response. Permission is typically only granted in situations such as Down's Syndrome, Muscular Distrophy, amputation, etc. "He is the smallest in his class", she was born on December 30th", etc are not criteria on which Playing Down Permission will be granted. The player must be registered in his/her natural age group to start the season. A formal request must be submitted to the club office to play down.
